About GSTEP Project

Inspiring a new generation of young people with STEM Education

GSTEP project is an initiative of the New Energy Frontiers (NEF), which is aimed at empowering STEM educators to teach Secondary School pupils about green energy and sustainability.

Phase 1 (GSTEP1.0) proof of concept was sponsored by Lagos State Research and Innovation Council from 2023 to 2024.

Phase 2 (GSTEP2.0) is sponsored by GEF SGP UNDP, and aims to evolve the platform into a learning management tool for sharing knowledge from sustainable development initiatives and real-life community action projects to STEM educators and students.

The focus of the project is to equip STEM educators with the knowledge and skills they need to teach pupils about green energy and sustainability in a practical and engaging way. The project will be piloted in Lagos State, with the aim of expanding to other states in Nigeria.

Through the project, STEM educators will have access to innovative resources and training opportunities that will enable them to teach pupils about renewable energy sources, energy conservation, and sustainable practices. By providing hands-on learning experiences and practical applications, the project aims to inspire a new generation of young people who are passionate about sustainability and the environment.
